What is Walmart Fulfillment Services?
Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) is Walmart's own pick-pack-ship program for Walmart Marketplace sellers: a seller sends inventory to a Walmart fulfillment center, and Walmart handles storage, picking, packing, and shipping each order to the customer. In exchange, WFS charges its own fulfillment fee (and separate storage fees, not modeled in this calculator) on top of the standard Walmart Marketplace Referral Fee that applies to every sale regardless of fulfillment method.
WFS vs. seller-fulfilled Walmart Marketplace
Both WFS and seller-fulfilled Walmart Marketplace sales use the same Walmart Marketplace Referral Fee schedule — the rate is category-dependent and does not vary by fulfillment method. The real difference is who fulfills the order: a seller-fulfilled seller ships the item themselves and pays their own real shipping and packaging costs, while a WFS seller pays Walmart's WFS fulfillment fee (calculated from the item's shipping weight and size classification) instead. How WFS shipping weight is calculated
Standard / Moderate Oversize / Large Oversize:
If Unit Weight < 1 lb:
Controlling Weight = Unit Weight
Otherwise:
Dimensional Weight = Length x Width x Height / 139
Controlling Weight = the greater of raw Unit Weight and raw Dimensional Weight
Shipping Weight = round up to the next whole pound of (Controlling Weight + 0.25 lb)
Big & Bulky (a structurally separate rule):
Shipping Weight = round up to the next whole pound of Unit Weight
(no dimensional weight, no 0.25 lb packaging adjustment)For Standard and Oversize items, Walmart adds 0.25 lb for packaging materials before the final whole-pound rounding — regardless of whether the item is under or over 1 lb. Raw (unrounded) unit weight and raw dimensional weight are compared first; neither is independently rounded before that comparison. Big & Bulky items use unit weight alone, with no dimensional-weight comparison and no packaging adjustment.
Dimensional weight
WFS dimensional weight = Length x Width x Height (in inches) divided by 139. This applies only to Standard and Oversize items weighing 1 lb or more — items under 1 lb use unit weight alone, and Big & Bulky items never use dimensional weight at all.
Official Walmart worked example
Walmart's own WFS pricing page publishes this exact example: a 6 lb item measuring 12 x 10 x 10 in.
Dimensional Weight = (12 x 10 x 10) / 139 = 8.63 lb
Controlling Weight = 8.63 lb (dimensional weight is greater than the 6 lb unit weight)
+ 0.25 lb packaging = 8.88 lb
Shipping Weight = 9 lb (rounded up)

This is Walmart's current published WFS fulfillment fee schedule for Standard and Oversize items, by shipping weight. Note the fee at 31 lb ($14.55) is genuinely lower than at 30 lb ($19.15) — a real Walmart pricing structure confirmed directly on two separate Walmart-owned pages, not a calculator error.

Standard-item surcharges
On top of the base fee, Standard and Oversize items can incur: Apparel +$0.50, Hazmat (chemical, aerosol, pesticide, or battery) +$0.50, and Under-$10 (Product Price below $10.00) +$1.00. These stack with each other and with any Oversize surcharge. None of these apply to Big & Bulky items, which Walmart explicitly charges no additional fulfillment fees on.

This calculator does not model WFS storage fees, return-processing fees, inventory removal or disposal fees, prep-service fees, or Inventory Transfer Services. These can materially affect your actual WFS economics and are excluded here because their exact billing mechanics were not precisely enough documented to model deterministically. If you want to account for one of these manually, add your own estimate to Other Seller Cost.

- Models Walmart.com US Marketplace, USD, Walmart Fulfillment Services, exactly one item per calculation, for a completed, non-refunded sale.
- WFS storage fees, return-processing fees, inventory removal/disposal fees, prep-service fees, and Inventory Transfer Services are not modeled. Add your own estimate to Other Seller Cost if you want one reflected.
- Walmart-funded Price Incentives, Reduced Referral Fee incentives, and New-Seller Savings are not modeled.
- Multi-item orders and mixed-category orders are not modeled — this calculator is for exactly one item per calculation.
- Passing this calculator's weight and dimension checks does not by itself guarantee WFS product eligibility — Walmart's separate WFS product and policy requirements (prohibited/restricted items, etc.) also apply and are not modeled here.
- Items over 500 lb, or exceeding WFS's maximum packaged dimensions, are rejected rather than assigned a fee.
- "Retail price" for the under-$10 surcharge is implemented using the Product Price you enter — Walmart does not publish a separate technical definition of that term.
- No separate Walmart Marketplace payment-processing fee is automatically added. Third-party payout-provider charges are external and account-dependent; add one manually to Other Seller Cost if it applies.
- Walmart publishes the WFS shipping-weight rounding rule used above. Walmart does not publish a separate internal cent-rounding method for every fee calculation. CartEconomics follows Walmart's published whole-pound shipping-weight rules and uses deterministic HALF-UP cent rounding only where a cent-rounding convention is required but not specified by Walmart.

How is the WFS fulfillment fee calculated?
From the item's shipping weight, looked up against Walmart's published fee table, plus any applicable surcharges for Standard and Oversize items. Big & Bulky items use a separate flat formula instead: $155.00 plus $0.80 per pound over 90 lb.
How does Walmart calculate WFS shipping weight?
For Standard and Oversize items 1 lb or more, Walmart compares raw unit weight against raw dimensional weight and takes the greater, adds 0.25 lb for packaging, then rounds up to the next whole pound. Items under 1 lb skip the dimensional-weight comparison and use unit weight alone before that same 0.25 lb addition and rounding. Big & Bulky items round up unit weight alone, with no dimensional weight and no packaging addition.
What is WFS dimensional weight?

Are WFS storage fees included?

Does WFS charge referral fees too?
Yes — WFS orders use the same Walmart Marketplace referral-fee schedule as seller-fulfilled orders. The WFS fulfillment fee is additional, not a replacement for it.
