TikTok Shop Fee & Profit Calculator

See your real profit on a TikTok Shop order after the referral fee, creator/affiliate commission, Campaign Service Fee, and Smart Promotion fee.

TikTok Shop charges sellers a referral fee (6% for most categories, 5% for Reduced Jewelry and Pre-Owned, with special high-value treatment for Collectibles and Pre-Owned) on completed orders, calculated from a modeled base that includes customer-paid shipping but excludes sales tax and any TikTok-funded discount. Sellers may also owe a creator/affiliate commission, a Campaign Service Fee for eligible campaigns, and a Smart Promotion fee. This calculator models one completed, non-refunded order at a time — it does not replace your Seller Center settlement report.

Order

Your product price subtotal before any discounts.

A discount you fund yourself — reduces the referral-fee base.

A discount TikTok funds, not you — does not reduce the referral-fee base.

Pass-through government amounts collected from the buyer — never seller revenue, and never calculated for you here.

TikTok Shop Referral Fee

Applies to the large majority of TikTok Shop categories.

Campaign & Promotion

Some eligible TikTok Shop campaigns charge a service fee. Enter the rate shown in your campaign's Fee Policy. Leave 0% if this order isn't subject to a Campaign Service Fee.

If you're enrolled in TikTok Shop Smart Promotion, enter the Smart Promotion fee allocated to this order from Seller Center or your own estimate. TikTok currently documents a 3.5% regular-period fee and an additional 1% during eligible major campaign periods, but this calculator does not automatically reconstruct TikTok's GMV allocation.

Creator / Affiliate

Leave at 0% if this order has no affiliate/creator involved. Represents a standard affiliate commission only — Tiered Commissions, Shop Ads Commission, and flat-fee collaborations aren't modeled.

Your Costs

Include any TikTok Shipping value-added charges (like shipping protection or signature service) here, or in Other Seller Cost — these aren't modeled automatically.

Fill in the required fields and press Calculate to see your results here.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the order's Product Subtotal, and any Seller Discount, Platform-Funded Discount, Shipping Charged to Customer, or Sales Tax / Retail Delivery Fee Collected.
  2. Choose the Referral Rate Mode that matches this order's category — Standard, Reduced Jewelry, Collectibles, Pre-Owned, or a Custom Rate.
  3. If a Campaign Service Fee, Smart Promotion fee, or creator/affiliate commission applies to this order, fill in those fields — all default to $0 / 0%.
  4. Add your own product cost and other seller costs.
  5. Press Calculate, then check Net Profit and the fee breakdown to see exactly how each figure was built.

What is TikTok Shop's referral fee?

The referral fee is the main percentage fee TikTok Shop charges and collects on completed orders. It replaced TikTok's earlier per-order Transaction Fee, which TikTok's own Settlement Report documentation now marks as "No longer applicable" — it applied only to orders placed before April 3, 2023. Current US orders are charged the referral fee only.

Referral fee rate modes

Most categories are charged 6%. A handful of categories are charged 5%, and Collectibles and Pre-Owned items each have their own high-value treatment above $10,000.

ModeRate up to $10,000Rate above $10,000
Standard6%6% (no threshold)
Reduced Jewelry5%5% (no threshold)
Collectibles6%3%
Pre-Owned5%3%
Custom RateUser-enteredUser-entered (no threshold)

Reduced Jewelry covers the Diamond, Gold, Jade, Platinum/Carat Gold, and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald sub-categories. TikTok's public documentation does not clearly state whether the $10,000 threshold for Collectibles and Pre-Owned is evaluated per order, per SKU, or per item — this calculator applies it to the referral-fee base you enter for a single calculation. If your order mixes products on different referral-fee schedules, calculate each rate group separately and add the results together; this calculator models one shared schedule per calculation.

How the referral fee is calculated

Net Product Revenue = Product Subtotal - Seller Discount

Customer Payment = Product Subtotal - Seller Discount - Platform-Funded Discount
+ Shipping Charged to Customer + Sales Tax / Retail Delivery Fee

Referral Fee Base = Net Product Revenue + Shipping Charged to Customer

Standard / Reduced Jewelry / Custom:
Referral Fee = Referral Fee Base x Rate

Collectibles:
  Referral Fee = min(Base, $10,000) x 6% + max(Base - $10,000, $0) x 3%

Pre-Owned:
  Referral Fee = min(Base, $10,000) x 5% + max(Base - $10,000, $0) x 3%

TikTok documents the referral fee as Rate × (Customer Payment + Platform Discount − Tax). Working through that formula algebraically shows that a TikTok-funded Platform Discount and any sales tax collected both cancel out — only your own Seller Discount actually reduces the fee. Combined with TikTok's current US Seller Terms of Service (last updated January 22, 2026), which define the referral fee as based on "the total amount paid by a buyer for each purchase," the best-supported reading of TikTok's current documentation is that customer-paid shipping is included in that base. TikTok does not publish this simplified expression verbatim — this is CartEconomics's modeled interpretation of the combined documentation, not a direct quote.

Seller-funded vs. platform-funded discounts

A Seller Discount is one you fund yourself — it reduces both what the buyer pays and the referral-fee base. A Platform-Funded Discount is one TikTok pays for — the buyer still sees a lower price, but TikTok still charges the referral fee as if the discount hadn't happened, since the seller isn't the one giving up margin. Keep these separate: entering a TikTok-funded discount as a Seller Discount would incorrectly shrink your referral fee.

Sales tax and Retail Delivery Fee

Sales tax and Colorado's Retail Delivery Fee are both pass-through government amounts TikTok collects from the buyer and remits — never your revenue, and never part of the referral-fee base. Enter the combined amount collected if you want it reflected in Customer Payment; this calculator does not calculate either amount for you. Separately, TikTok currently documents that eligible sellers with a business registration address in Texas or West Virginia may see sales tax added to the referral fee itself — this calculator does not automatically estimate that tax (see Limitations).

Creator / affiliate commission

Affiliate Commission Base = Product Subtotal - Seller Discount
Affiliate Commission = Affiliate Commission Base x Creator Commission Rate

This is TikTok's official Settlement Report formula for Standard Affiliate Commission — shipping, sales tax, and platform-funded discounts don't factor into this specific base. Enter the rate for a standard affiliate arrangement only; Tiered Commissions, Shop Ads Commission mechanics, flat-fee collaborations, and Open/Target Collaboration logic are not modeled.

Campaign Service Fee

Campaign Service Fee Base = Product Subtotal - Seller Discount + Shipping Charged to Customer
Campaign Service Fee = Campaign Service Fee Base x Campaign Service Fee Rate

Some eligible TikTok Shop campaigns (Standard Registration, Flash Sale, and others) charge this fee once per applicable order, on top of the referral fee. The rate isn't universal — TikTok currently uses 1% in its own Standard Registration and Flash Sale examples, but says the actual rate is shown in that specific campaign's Fee Policy. Enter your own campaign's rate, or leave it at 0% if this order isn't part of an eligible campaign.

Smart Promotion fee

Smart Promotion is TikTok's current primary marketing-fee program (most sellers have transitioned from the legacy Co-Funded Promotion model, which isn't modeled here). TikTok currently documents a 3.5% fee during ordinary periods and an additional 1% during eligible major campaign periods, calculated as a fixed percentage of storewide GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) — not this single order's numbers. Because that program-level base can't be reliably reconstructed from one order's inputs, this calculator asks you to enter the Smart Promotion fee already allocated to this order (from Seller Center, or your own estimate) rather than attempting to calculate it automatically.

Importantly, the Smart Promotion discount a customer sees on the order page is not the same as your actual Smart Promotion cost — TikTok explicitly says a displayed $5 coupon does not mean you actually pay a $5 fee. Platform-Funded Discount and Smart Promotion Fee are entered separately in this calculator and are never derived from one another.

Seller revenue and profit

Seller Revenue = Product Subtotal - Seller Discount + Shipping Charged to Customer

Total Platform & Creator Fees =
Referral Fee + Creator/Affiliate Commission + Campaign Service Fee + Smart Promotion Fee

Net Profit = Seller Revenue - Total Platform & Creator Fees - Seller Operating Costs
Profit Margin = Net Profit / Seller Revenue x 100
Return on Cost = Net Profit / Total Costs x 100
Effective Fee Rate = Total Platform & Creator Fees / Seller Revenue x 100

Platform-funded discounts never reduce Seller Revenue, since TikTok funds that portion rather than you. Sales tax and Retail Delivery Fee are never Seller Revenue. Effective Fee Rate is measured against Seller Revenue rather than Customer Payment, since Customer Payment includes pass-through tax that never reaches you — dividing by it would understate how much of your own revenue TikTok's fees actually take.

Assumptions and Limitations

  • Models one completed, non-refunded US TikTok Shop order in USD at a time, where every product in the order shares one referral-fee schedule.
  • Customer-paid shipping is included in the referral-fee base as the best-supported reading of TikTok's current documentation — not a verbatim published formula. Verify against your own settlement report if this matters for a specific order.
  • TikTok's public documentation does not state whether the $10,000 Collectibles/Pre-Owned threshold is evaluated per order, SKU, or item. This calculator applies it to the referral-fee base entered for a single calculation.
  • Smart Promotion is a direct dollar entry, not an automatic calculation — TikTok's 3.5%/4.5% rates are based on storewide GMV, which this calculator cannot reconstruct from one order.
  • Campaign Service Fee requires you to enter the rate from your own campaign's Fee Policy — no universal rate is assumed.
  • Creator/Affiliate Commission models a single standard rate only — Tiered Commissions, Shop Ads Commission mechanics, flat-fee collaborations, and Open/Target Collaboration logic are not modeled.
  • Sales tax on the referral fee itself (currently documented for eligible sellers with a Texas or West Virginia business registration address) is not automatically calculated — no stable published rate exists to calculate it from.
  • Refunds are out of scope for the live calculator. The Refund Administration Fee (20% of the refunded referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU) is explained in the FAQ as reference information only.
  • Legacy Co-Funded Promotion, Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) settlement credits/offsets, live TikTok Shipping rates, TikTok Shipping value-added charges (like shipping protection or signature service), temporary/promotional referral rates, and non-US TikTok Shop are all out of scope.
  • This is an estimate based on the numbers you enter and TikTok's published fee documentation, current as of the Last Reviewed date below — fee policies can change, it is not a live readout from your Seller Center, and it may not match your actual settlement report exactly.
  • This calculator is for general informational purposes only and is not tax, financial, legal, or investment advice.

Frequently asked questions

What fees does TikTok Shop charge sellers?

The main fee is the referral fee, a percentage of the order's modeled base. Depending on the order, sellers may also owe a creator/affiliate commission, a Campaign Service Fee for eligible campaigns, and a Smart Promotion fee. TikTok's legacy Transaction Fee no longer applies to current orders.

What is TikTok Shop's referral fee?

It's the percentage fee TikTok charges and collects on completed orders — 6% for most categories, with some categories at 5% and special high-value treatment for Collectibles and Pre-Owned items above $10,000.

Is TikTok Shop's referral fee 6%?

6% is the Standard rate that applies to most categories, but Reduced Jewelry and Pre-Owned categories are 5%, and Collectibles and Pre-Owned items both drop to 3% on the portion of a sale above $10,000.

Which TikTok Shop categories use 5%?

The Diamond, Gold, Jade, Platinum/Carat Gold, and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald jewelry sub-categories, plus all Pre-Owned categories.

How are Collectibles fees calculated above $10,000?

6% applies to the first $10,000 of the referral-fee base, and 3% applies to any amount above that. TikTok doesn't state whether this $10,000 is evaluated per order, SKU, or item — this calculator applies it to the base you enter for one calculation.

How are Pre-Owned fees calculated above $10,000?

Same structure as Collectibles, but at 5% instead of 6% for the first $10,000, then 3% above that.

Does a TikTok-funded discount reduce the referral fee?

No. A discount TikTok itself funds (a Platform-Funded Discount) doesn't reduce the referral-fee base — TikTok still charges the fee as if the discount hadn't happened. Only a discount you fund yourself (a Seller Discount) reduces it.

Does shipping affect TikTok Shop referral fees?

Based on the best-supported reading of TikTok's current documentation and Seller Terms, yes — shipping charged to the customer is included in the referral-fee base. TikTok doesn't state this in one explicit sentence, so verify against your own settlement report if it matters for a specific order.

Is sales tax included in the referral fee?

No. Sales tax (and Colorado's Retail Delivery Fee) are pass-through government amounts and are excluded from the referral-fee base entirely.

How does affiliate commission affect profit?

Creator/affiliate commission is calculated on Product Subtotal minus your Seller Discount, and is added to your total platform and creator fees — it directly reduces net profit just like the referral fee does.

What is a Campaign Service Fee?

A fee some eligible TikTok Shop campaigns (like Standard Registration or Flash Sale) charge once per order when a registered product sells during the campaign. The rate is set per campaign in its own Fee Policy — this calculator doesn't assume a universal rate.

What is Smart Promotion?

TikTok Shop's current primary marketing-fee program, charged as a percentage of storewide GMV — currently documented as 3.5% in ordinary periods and up to 4.5% during major campaign periods. Because it's based on your whole store rather than one order, this calculator asks you to enter the fee already allocated to this order rather than calculating it automatically.

Is Smart Promotion the same as the customer discount?

No. The discount a customer sees on the order page doesn't necessarily equal your actual Smart Promotion cost — TikTok explicitly states that a $5 coupon shown to a customer doesn't mean you pay a $5 fee. Keep Platform-Funded Discount and Smart Promotion Fee as separate entries.

Does TikTok Shop still charge a transaction fee?

No. TikTok's own Settlement Report documentation marks the Transaction Fee as "No longer applicable" — it applied only to orders placed before April 3, 2023. Current orders are charged the referral fee instead.

What is the Refund Administration Fee?

If an order is refunded, TikTok keeps 20% of the refunded referral fee as an administration fee, capped at $5 per SKU. This calculator doesn't model refunds — this is reference information only, for a completed, non-refunded order's economics.

How do I calculate my real TikTok Shop profit?

Enter your order's product subtotal, any discounts, shipping, and applicable fee rates above, along with your own product and fulfillment costs. Net Profit shows what's left after TikTok's fees, any creator commission, and your own costs.
