How Amazon FBA fees are calculated
Three groups of formulas combine to produce your final profit: the referral fee, the FBA fulfillment fee, and the totals that roll everything together.
Referral fee
Seller Revenue = Item Price + Shipping Charged to Buyer + Gift Wrap Charged to Buyer
Referral Fee Base = Seller Revenue (sales tax excluded)
Referral Fee = category-dependent schedule applied to the Referral Fee Base,
floored at the category minimum (some categories have no minimum)FBA fulfillment fee
FBA Price Band = based on Item Price alone: under $10 / $10-$50 / over $50
Base FBA Fulfillment Fee = looked up from Size Tier x Shipping Weight x Price Band,
with an incremental charge above each tier's included weight
Fuel & Logistics Surcharge = 3.5% x Base FBA Fulfillment Fee
Total FBA Fulfillment Cost = Base FBA Fulfillment Fee + Fuel & Logistics SurchargeTotal fees and profit
Total Amazon Fees = Referral Fee + Media Closing Fee (if applicable)
+ Selling Plan Fee + Total FBA Fulfillment Cost + any optional allocated fees
Estimated Net Revenue = Seller Revenue - Total Amazon Fees
Net Profit = Estimated Net Revenue - Seller Operating CostsThe FBA fulfillment fee depends on your item's size tier, shipping weight (the greater of unit weight or dimensional weight for most tiers), and price band. Above each tier's included weight, Amazon charges extra for every additional started weight interval — this calculator computes that for you, so you never need to enter the fulfillment fee manually.
Shipping weight is handled with fixed-point arithmetic so values just above a fee boundary are not rounded down into the wrong weight band.
CartEconomics calculates and rounds each estimated fee to the nearest cent independently before totaling fees. This is not a claim that it exactly reproduces Amazon's internal ledger rounding.
2026 FBA price bands
The FBA fulfillment fee table has three price columns, based on your item price alone — never shipping or gift wrap. Items priced under $10.00 use the Low-Price FBA column. Items priced from $10.00 through $50.00 use the middle column. Items priced above $50.00 use the highest column. Exactly $10.00 and exactly $50.00 both use the $10–$50 price band.
Low-Price FBA
Low-Price FBA is Amazon's reduced fulfillment fee rate for items priced under $10. This calculator applies it automatically based on your item price — there's no separate toggle to select and no separate program to opt into.
Non-Peak vs. Holiday Peak
Amazon charges different FBA fulfillment fees during the Holiday Peak period than the rest of the year. For 2026, Non-Peak runs January 15 through October 14, and Holiday Peak runs October 15, 2026 through January 14, 2027. Which rate applies is based on when your shipment actually leaves the fulfillment center — not when the order was placed.
Apparel vs. Non-Apparel
Amazon uses a separate FBA fulfillment fee schedule for apparel. Select Apparel only if Amazon applies its apparel fulfillment schedule to this product; otherwise use Non-Apparel. The two schedules mainly differ for Small Standard and Large Standard items — Small Bulky, Large Bulky, and Extra-Large items use the same rates either way.
Assumptions and Limitations
- V1 models a single unit sold via Fulfillment by Amazon on amazon.com, in USD, for US-registered sellers.
- You select the Amazon size tier and enter the shipping weight yourself — V1 doesn't derive either from raw package dimensions.
- Referral fee categories are limited to the ones this calculator has independently sourced and verified against Amazon's own documentation. If your category isn't listed, "Most categories" (15%, $0.30 minimum) is the closest documented default — it may not exactly match your actual category's rate.
- Doesn't model Dangerous Goods / Hazmat fulfillment fees.
- Doesn't model the Overmax handling fee for oversized items.
- Doesn't model SIPP (Ships in Product Packaging) fee adjustments.
- Doesn't model the low-inventory-level fee or the aged inventory surcharge.
- Doesn't model returns processing fees.
- Doesn't model removal, disposal, or liquidation fees.
- Doesn't model Amazon Warehousing and Distribution, Multi-Channel Fulfillment, Remote Fulfillment, or Buy with Prime.
- The Professional plan's $39.99 monthly subscription is never auto-divided across units — enter your own per-unit allocation if you want to include it.
- Doesn't model sales tax.
- Doesn't model refunds, cancellations, or fee credits.
- Doesn't model Amazon coupons, discounts, or other promotional adjustments.
- This is an estimate based on the numbers you enter and Amazon's published fee schedule — it is not a live readout from your Seller Central account and may not match your actual payout exactly.
- This calculator is for general informational purposes only and is not tax, financial, legal, or investment advice.

Frequently asked questions
How are Amazon FBA fees calculated?
Amazon charges a referral fee (a category-dependent percentage of your item price, shipping, and gift wrap), plus an FBA fulfillment fee based on your item's size tier, shipping weight, and price. A 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge applies on top of the fulfillment fee, and your selling plan (Individual or Professional) adds its own fee structure.
What is Low-Price FBA?
Low-Price FBA is Amazon's reduced fulfillment fee rate for items priced under $10. This calculator applies it automatically based on your item price — there's no separate toggle to select.
Why do I have to select my own size tier and enter shipping weight?
Amazon's size tier assignment depends on package dimensions and packaging details this calculator doesn't collect. Rather than guess and risk an inaccurate fee, V1 asks you to enter the size tier and shipping weight Amazon has already assigned to your listing in Seller Central.
What's the difference between Non-Peak and Holiday Peak fees?
Amazon charges different FBA fulfillment fees during the Holiday Peak period (October 15, 2026 through January 14, 2027) than the rest of the year. The rate that applies is based on when your shipment actually leaves the fulfillment center, not when the order was placed.
What is the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge?
It's a surcharge Amazon added on top of the FBA fulfillment fee, effective April 17, 2026. It's calculated as 3.5% of the base FBA fulfillment fee itself — not of your item price — and applies during both Non-Peak and Holiday Peak periods.
Does this calculator include Amazon PPC advertising costs?
You can enter any ad spend you want attributed to this sale under Amazon Ads Cost Allocated to This Sale, but this calculator doesn't calculate advertising costs itself — it's for you to enter based on your own campaign reporting.
Why isn't my product category in the referral fee list?
This calculator only includes referral fee categories that have been independently verified against Amazon's own official documentation, to avoid publishing invented fee data. If your category isn't listed, "Most categories" is the closest documented default, though it may not exactly match your category's actual rate.
